There are five things in the universe with the capacity to make Madame Vastra, the Silurian lizard woman, grumpy at best and downright aggressive and possibly dangerous at most. Two of those things where now conspiring against the Silurian. One was the cold pot of tea which sat on the table in her study. The other was the boredom which had drawn around her over the past few weeks. The tea issue would be resolved soon enough when Jenny brought in a freshly brewed pot for their morning tea at eleven o’clock.
Her boredom though was an entirely different matter. Their last case ended six weeks ago and since then they had received no new clients or requests from Scotland Yard to help them. It was not unusual for them to go a couple of weeks between big cases and adventures. Six weeks however would try the patience of even the Goddess herself, and Vastra’s patience was all but gone.
Scotland Yard had passed their last case to them. It involved the theft of rare jewels from several townhouses owned by the aristocracy in Belgravia. The victims required absolute discretion and secrecy, so a bunch of constables and detectives descending upon the exclusive London borough would bring far too much attention and embarrassment for the sensibilities of the nobility to deal with. So it was quickly decided that the case would be handled by the Great Detective and her able companion. Vastra and Jenny had successfully closed the case within seventy-two hours, much to the gratitude of both the victims and Scotland Yard in equal measure, with Vastra only having to use a modicum of effort and Jenny going under cover as a servant in one of the houses. Which had only required her to spend one night away from home, much to Vastra’s relief. It turned out the culprit had been the proverbial butler, or rather three of them working together to steal from their employers.
In the six weeks that followed Vastra had slowly driven herself and her wife round the bend and sent Strax into hiding from her for most of the day due to her increasing boredom, which meant she was increasingly grumpy and meddlesome. She didn’t mean to snap or meddle, but she simply did not know what to do with all this spare time on her hands!
The first two weeks had been a welcome break from their usual hectic lives, with Vastra enjoying time to tinker in her laboratory and carry out experiments that had been postponed for some time due their usually heavy work load. She especially enjoyed the time she could spend with Jenny, her beloved wife. They made good use of the free time they so rarely had and visited art galleries, museums and Kew Gardens. Vastra had practically purred her way around the large Palm House stocked full of exotic tropical plants which reminded her of her youth. After two hours of basking in its heat,Vastra had been shoved outside by her visibly wilting wife.
The tall disciplined homo-reptilian woman occupied her time at first reading and writing up her case notes and journals and then cleaning and rearranging her entire library and vault whilst making full inventories of every book, journal, ledger and alien artefact in the house. Her boredom was increasing and the proud Silurian warrior hated being idle. So she set about sharpening, cleaning and polishing all her weapons. When that task was complete she attempted to clean her wife’s, until that earned her a slap around her crests and a stern warning to stay away from the young woman’s swords and knives. Vastra, decided that a tactical retreat was the best course of action, purely in the spirit of a happy marriage.
With no cases forth coming from either private clients or Scotland Yard, Vastra decided to check in with the Paternoster Irregulars, the group of street urchins and match girls the Great Detective employed to keep their eyes and ears open on the streets of London for any possible information which might lead to a new case or help solve a current one. She wanted to inquire about any gossip on the streets, just to see if they had missed anything, as good as they had always been they were still ape hatchlings after all. But the conversation had quickly descended into an interrogation. The children became withdrawn and silent. Vastra straighten her posture in her chair, then wrinkling her nose she hissed in displeasure.
Jenny had immediately set about plying the Paternoster Irregulars with lemonade, cake and lots of reassurance that they had done nothing wrong and the grumpy lizard woman did not mean it when she said she would eat them all if they did not find her a case soon. Vastra attempted her best approximation of an apologetic expression, but when she received an eye roll from Jenny the Silurian showed her frustration by hissing at her wife. That was when Jenny seemed to have had enough and shooed her out of the conservatory before Vastra could be any more insensitive.
The bored and grumpy Silurian had retreated to the training room in the cellar and spent several days going through meditation techniques, multiple hand to hand combat moves and swordsmanship. Vastra’s patience had waned to its last thread and she was aware that she had regrettably got under her wife’s feet far too much over the past few weeks, and she had to admit to being insensitive on more than one occasion. She hoped that the meditation and vigorous work out would help relieve her frustration over the boredom brought on by the lack of cases and adventures she was regularly accustomed to.
However the lizard woman managed to destroy two training manikin's, smashing them to smithereens whilst taking her frustrations out on the wooden framed and leather padded training dummies. In doing this she also managed to wreck four swords which were beyond repair. These were not her beloved Katana swords she took into battle or on cases, but rather old swords she kept for training purposes. The manikin's and swords would require replacing, and the mess cleaned up.
Vastra stood amongst the wreckage of the two training dummies and swords, breathing heavily from her exertion holding a broken sword in each hand. She felt the trickle of blood running down her arm. She glanced down at her right arm, noticing the tear to the sleeve of her white shirt and the spreading blood stain. The deep cut was caused when the second training dummy had splintered and disintegrated, sending a piece of wood slicing across her right forearm.
“By the Goddess, this will not go down well with my beloved ape!” She thought to herself and at that moment her wife appeared at the bottom of the cellar steps carrying the morning newspaper. Vastra wrinkled her nose and shrugged her shoulders whilst attempting to approximate what she thought would pass for an innocent expression.

Jenny was well done with the clean up after tea. Now she was sitting down with the paper spread on the table with a steaming cup, and Vastra still had not come up from the training pit room. It was not unusual for her to stay down this long, but Jenny had become concerned over the ruckus she could hear from down the hall. She tossed her towel over the sink and started for the open door. One look at Strax told her he was also surprised by the vigor and volume they could both hear.
What was really brave about Strax was that she could always see when he was afraid, but he always went forward anyway into the fray. That fear flashed in his eyes now. Then there was a tearing, pounding sound like she'd never heard before, and Jenny was striding past him and straight down the hallway. The next sound was louder and put a fine skip in her step until she was at the top of the stairs, looking in and seeing a sliver of disaster that had her now moving quickly down the steps.
"Ma'am!" Her voice held a sharpness of concern with an edging of irritation. "Whot 'ave you done there? Ohhh- Madame!" Jenny said, slowing as she reached the cellar door. Torn canvas, scattered padding, and leather unlacing littered the floor. She couldn't place all the strange equipment and then realized that Vastra had broken up the training dummies. The wooden ones, the pieces were scattered everywhere.
Now that Jenny had made some sense of what she was looking at she flung a look to Vastra, Jenny's eyebrows asking questions, her eyes demanding answers. Vastra was giving her a look as though butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, the look in her big blue eyes as pure as resting rabbit's. It was like the punchline for some fine joke, but Jenny's view point changed immediately when she realized her wife's sleeve was staining with blood, and the stain growing visibly larger even as she watched. Jenny closed the space between them and took a good grip of Vastra's elbow, her focus equal on the wound half seen through her shirt, and looking up into the lizard woman's face.
Jenny clucked her tongue three and gave her head three shakes, briskly folding the paper into a tight, neat package that she tucked under her arm with a snap.
"Well, Oye think it's enough fer a day Ma'am." She said in challenge. Three big locks of her hair had escaped the pins as she'd run down the stairs making coils on her throat and bobbing just behind her ear. Strax's head peeked in, half moon, against the light from the hallway and disappeared with equal speed.

A slow low hiss was released by Vastra as Jenny gently pulled the frayed edges of the torn cotton sleeve away from the wound, some of the blood had already started to stick to the sleeve as the blood began to clot. As gentle as the young woman was being it was still sore for the Silurian. Jenny paused and raised her soft brown eyes to meet Vastra’s light blue ones. The brown eyes still held a little irritation, but were mostly full of concern. The raise of her eye brows though told Vastra that if it hurt it was her fault for being such a grumpy careless lizard.
As Jenny returned her attention to assessing the wound, Vastra noticed over the maids head that her Sontaran friend and butler, Strax, was peeking into the training room from the top of the cellar steps. He was there one moment and gone the next suddenly disappearing back into the kitchen from where the steps lead to.
Feeling somewhat guilty at causing Jenny and Strax to worry, and for being so grumpy of late, Vastra sighed conceding that she had to make amends and quickly. Lifting up her left hand she gently hooked the three loose strands of the younger woman’s hair with her index and middle fingers and slid the soft dark brown strands back behind her ear. Then she cupped Jenny’s cheek with her hand. The soft porcelain skin was gratifyingly warm against the cool scales of her palm.
Vastra sighed as she gently stroked Jenny’s cheek with her thumb. “I am sorry my love. I will see to cleaning this mess up.”
With her blue eyes sparkling with mischief, Vastra, lowered her voice a little and stated “I was being insensitive again wasn’t I?” and after a pause once she had her wife’s attention added in a distinctly flirtatious tone, “I don’t know why you put up with me?” and gave her trade mark smile displaying her sharp white teeth.

It was quite the pricking Vastra had taken, or so she thought until she realized that there was wood in the wound. She would have to tell Strax to start making new training dummies. Jenny sipped air through her teeth, hating to see the damage done to her wife's perfect scaled hide. It looked like it hurt, and it looked like she was going to spend the rest of the day repairing a shirt. She gently let said shirt fall back upon the wound.
All her irritation fell away as Vastra reached out to her, fussing gently with her hair and then cupping her cheek with a cool palm. She had learned to love the tiny, smooth scales that her wife had on her palms.
And elsewhere.
With those bright blue eyes and the touch of her hand, Jenny hardly knew what she'd been irritated with in the first place.
“I am sorry my love. I will see to cleaning this mess up.” Vastra apologized, the most lovely expression on her face.
"Forgiven, Ma'am." Jenny gave her an easy smile in return. "But . . don't you try to wash that." Her wife was notoriously bad at housekeeping. Jenny was not yet certain if this was an actual trait, or Vastra just pretending to be hopeless at it so she wouldn't have to do any. What Vastra didn't know was that Jenny would have done them anyway. It just felt right. It felt like Vastra was meant for better things. Besides, Jenny had Strax's help running the house.
"Just put ii' in some cool water, an' Oil take care of it Ma'am. Oi should 'ave come down sooner, but you get quite fierce wi' a sword in your 'and."
“I was being insensitive again wasn’t I?”
"Yes Ma'am." Jenny answered quite simply with a sigh that was half weary, half dreamy.
“I don’t know why you put up with me?”
"You know 'xactly why Oi pu' up with you, Ma'am. Oi like my lizard women fierce." Jenny bit a full lower lip, her eyes hiding for a moment, then looking directly back at Vastra's impossible blue eyes. "An' other reasons. Why don't you have Strax take a look at this an' then Oil come fuss over you at the fireplace Ma'am? Oi found somethin' in the paper that migh' catch your eye."

“Forgiven, Ma’am”
Jenny’s reply was accompanied with the soft smile that always grounded and calmed the Silurian, even in the most difficult and dangerous of situations. Vastra knew how lucky she was to be married to Jenny. The girl never stayed cross with her for long. Thank the Goddess, because Madame Vastra could drive a puritan to drink when she was being particularly insensitive and difficult.
“You know ‘xactly why Oi pu’ up with you, Ma’am. Oi like my lizard women fierce.” It was hardly surprising or shocking for anyone who knew the lizard woman to hear her flirting or making an outrageous comment. But when Jenny joined in it was positively shocking. Vastra revelled in the flirtatious banter she shared with her wife. Jenny was a well-mannered young woman who conducted herself in the proper manner with which Victorian society expected of her gender. Vastra was very proud of Jenny's virtue. It was a trait that Silurian's valued and held dear, despite their flirtatious natures. To find such qualities in an ape, and such a young one with such a pretty face at that, had turned Vastra's head and heart long before she had ever declared her true feelings to her maid.
Only Vastra knew there was an exciting, dangerous and very naughty side to the younger woman. A side only she got to see.
Holding the soft doe brown gaze of her beloved ape, the lizard woman noted the young maid biting her bottom lip and the slightly coy look she gave before adding.
“An’ other reasons.”
The lizard woman straighten her posture and draw herself up to her full height. Pulling her shoulders back she lifted her head and held an air of pride in her demeanour at the younger woman's declaration. Her scales turning a slightly darker green under Jenny’s piercing gaze. Her tongue in voluntarily flicking out to taste the air between them and assess her wife’s mood!
Vastra was brought out of her momentary lapse in concentration by the rest of Jenny’s comment. “Why don’t you have Strax take a look at this an’ then Oi come fuss over you at the fireplace Ma’am? Oi found somethin’ in the paper that migh’ catch your eye.”
Madame Vastra simply couldn’t help herself. Not that she had ever actually tried to restrain her flirtatious side, and nor would she. It was a Silurian trait and she hoped Jenny understood that. But more importantly she hoped her wife knew her flirtatious nature was of no threat to their relationship. Jenny was her heart, she was everything to Vastra. If the young maid didn’t understand then no doubt a time would come when Jenny would ask her about it. Heading for the cellar steps and without missing a stride as she passed the other woman, Vastra stated, “There is something here in the cellar which has already caught my eye!” “STRAX! . . . STRAX! . . . Come on STRAX! Your nursing skills are required my friend.” Vastra shouted as she ascended the steps into the kitchen
Fifteen minutes later Vastra sat by a freshly stoked fire with Strax tending to the wound on her right forearm. Using his medical scanner to assess the laceration, Strax had cut the sleeve away from it, and was now in the process of pulling the last of the three two and half-inch splinters out. He was surprisingly gentle for a warrior clone with large hands. But that didn’t mean it was not painful for the Silurian woman.
Vastra tried to keep her irritation to a bare minimum. It was difficult being a brave warrior from an ancient civilisation and admitting that her wound, which was technically self-inflicted due to her frustrated outburst in the training room a short while earlier, hurt like hell. Strax pulled at the splinter with tweezers as he had the previous two. Those two had been in the centre of the wound and had been pulled out fairly easily. This one was proving harder to remove because it was on the edge of the wound caught in a broken scale. With his free hand he dabbed a cloth into the blood pooling once more and tried to stem the bleeding as best he could.
“In future, Madame, you should use the puny humans for practice sessions. They will not stand up against your expert sword hand! Although a much more effective obliteration strategy would include a Sontaran blaster accompanied by the correct deployment of automated laser monkeys, scalpel mines, scissors grenades, limbo vapour, triple blast brain splitters and ACCIIDD!" He lifted the hand he was stemming the blood with and clenched it into a fist. Then he slowly drew out the word acid before resuming his usual excited speech pattern, "I will draw up a battle plan immediately Madame!”
Talking about the glory of battle with his commander increased Strax’s excitement making him more animated. His movements were becoming less careful than they had been. When the pain finally became too much, even for Vastra to bare, her irritation got the better of her and she grabbed Strax by his tie with her left hand and hauled him towards her in one swift powerful move.
Her blue eyes darkened, her nose crinkled as her lips pulled back into a snarl and she tilted her head to the side regarding Strax like he was a specimen being examined under her microscope. She jutted her chin out and bared her teeth at him, emitting a growl that rolled into a deep menacing hiss straight into his face and then spat out, “Hurt me once more and I swear by the Goddess I won’t be responsible for my actions, Sontaran!”
Strax was subservient to Vastra in his position as her butler, but he was her loyal friend and comrade too. He looked up to her and acknowledged that she was his commander, his leader. However he was capable of matching Vastra in aggression and battle. It was extremely rare for the Silurian and the Sontaran to go toe to toe and become confrontational with one another in such a manner, and that was because they were genuinely good friends.
In a flash Strax met her aggression with his own. “Unhand me you ridiculous reptile!” he shouted and pushed her away from him back into the chair. In doing so the splinter was abruptly pulled out of her arm because he was still holding the tweezers which were still gripping the splinter at that moment. Vastra’s head flew back and she growled and hissed loudly clutching her arm to her chest. Strax stood back and seemed proud to have removed all the splinters apparently oblivious to the pain his friend was currently experiencing.
“The procedure has been a success. You will live. Now allow me to clean it.”
He took a step forward to clean the wound. Only to be met by one very grumpy growling and hissing lizard who eyed him warily from under her eye ridges. Even Strax, as brave as the little Sontaran was, knew that he should not cross Madame Vastra when she was this annoyed. That would be extremely dangerous. So he made a tactical decision and took two steps backwards nearer to the door. In his estimation that would give him the tactical advantage of a hasty retreat if required.
The pain started to wain and Vastra began to make a keening noise. It was a sad pitiful wail and one she very rarely ever made. The Silurian was so fed up with being grumpy and in pain. Reluctantly she acknowledged her arm would need cleaning and dressing, but she was not about to let Strax anywhere near it for the sake of his own well being.

They were squabbling again. Her wife and Strax. It amused her until the growling and spitting escelated. Jenny moved quickly then, following angry voices and the thumping chairs. When she went into the vestibule, she could see things had gotten out of hand. She came in beside them, ready to shout them both down when Strax actually tried to hide behind her.
"That's enough!" She yelled and started beating Strax with the newspaper, startling him into flinching. "What in the 'ell do you think your doin' If ya' evah push M'Lady again, I'll have your six fingahs for mornin' sausage!! No no, you get ou' a here, Oil take care of i'!"
The Sontarn made a hasty retreat.
The kenning sound her wife made broke her heart. Skirts and all she swept over to the lizard woman in the chair, and caught that face in her hands. She peered down into those blue eyes with her own dark ones, giving a little shake of her head. Then she dropped a kiss right in the middle of her forehead.
"There now Ma'am" She crooned, and gave the woman's cheek a pat as she stood fully upright again. "I'll 'ave a talk wi' Strax, 'e's as stir crazy as you ah. You alrigh' Ma'am?"

Vastra relaxed considerably once her wife had swept into the room and took control of the over excited Sontaran and sent him on his way. The warm gentle touch of the young maid’s hands on her cool facial scales and the soft tones of her voice accompanied by the loving kiss worked to relax the irritated Silurian and her keening soon petered out with the receding pain.
Whenever Jenny became protective over her it made the lizard woman’s cool blood warm up and pump faster around her body. Her shoulders lifted and fell slightly as she emitted a soft contented sigh.
“I do love it when you go all Ninja maid on me my dear” Vastra stated with a smile and sparkling blue eyes.
The lizard woman leant forward and picked up the cloth which had been folded over the side of a bowl of hot water Strax had placed on the small table beside her. She soaked the cloth in the hot water and then gently run it over the deep laceration several times. Even cleaning the wound herself it still caused a stinging pain and she let out a low growl of annoyance. Once the wound had been cleaned Vastra placed the cloth back in the bowl and picked up the small brown bottle containing Iodine which also sat on the small table and uncorked it. She tipped a couple of drops of the liquid into the laceration and let out a loud hiss at the sudden sharp pain, but soon relaxed as the pain began to subside a few seconds later. Recorking the bottle she placed it back on the table next to the bowl and picked up a bandage. After considering it for a moment she held it out to Jenny who was standing before her.
“Would you please help me my dear? I can’t put the bandage on single-handedly.”
Noticing the newspaper in Jenny’s hand and remembering that the young woman had mentioned having found something in the paper which Vastra might be interested in the Silurian added hopefully.
“What was in the newspaper you thought I might find of interest?”

The Madame did not care to be fussed over. Not for anything serious. Jenny had deduced that she wanted her tea brought, her door answered, and her sword polished, but not her injuries fooled with. After all, she was a lizard and Jenny's instincts were often wrong. All she could do while her wife was tending that rather vicious cut was coo over her and clean up after her. She was longing to do something, hating that her wife was injured, when Vastra offered her a boon. Tying the bandage on.
"Yes Ma'am." Jenny took her time wrapping it around and making sure it was placed just right. With each tuck, she looked up to see those blue eyes, flirting now that she hadn't had a chance to fuss enough. A firm knot she made, too, knowing it may have to survive a sword fight or two before the wound healed. When the task was done, the Madame asked about the paper. Jenny was hoping that it would break the woman's stir crazy attitude and keep her from tearing up the training room again.
"Ey, Ma'am it is." She started to hand it over and stopped. What if Vastra jumped into the fray before her cut healed up? It was too late now though, wasn't it. She extended the paper again.
"Scotland Yard Investigating Museum Thefts" read the headline.
The first museum hit was the British Museum, the second was the Geological Museum and the third and most recent was the British Museum of Natural History.
"Seems tha' whoots missin' is 'Classifyed' Ma'am. Wonda whot it's about." Jenny said casually, but her eyes were glued to the Mistress wanting to see what she thought. If there was a spark. If they were going to investigate themselves.
"Maybe we should go and see?" Jenny prompted.

Vastra went to take the newspaper from Jenny, but the young maid hesitated and the Silurian noticed the fleeting flash of concern that crossed Jenny’s expression before the maid seemed to relent and proceed to hand over the large broad sheet newspaper to her wife.
The older woman took the offered newspaper from Jenny. But before even looking at the paper she paused for a moment to regard the younger woman, tilting her head to the side in the way she often did when contemplating a problem. Vastra leant forward in her chair. Lifting her right hand she gently stroked the underside of Jenny’s chin before cupping it in her palm assuring that she had her wife’s attention.
“I am sorry for the worry I have caused you my love. I have been insensitive and grumpy for far too long.” Vastra looked away briefly and then let out a small sigh before turning her gaze back on Jenny’s doe brown eyes. “I have much making up to do.” She offered a small smile while she held Jenny’s gaze a little longer.
Then abruptly Vastra turned her attention to the large broadsheet newspaper she was holding and slowly shook the newspaper out to straighten it and read the headline;
"Scotland Yard Investigating Museum Thefts"
Vastra’s light blue eyes widened and sparkled with great interest as she avidly read the newspaper article. A wide smile quickly spread across her face as she read on. The fact that her perfect white teeth could be seen through her smile was a clear sign at how interested and pleased she was with what she was reading.
While the lizard woman took to reading the article the young maid offered an opinion of her own,
"Seems tha' whoots missin' is 'Classifyed' Ma'am. Wonda whot it's about."
Vastra thought about that before replying, “I would deduce that it is more a case of Scotland Yard not having a clue about the connection between the artefacts which were stolen, as opposed to it being classified information.”
"Maybe we should go and see?" Jenny prompted.
“I agree!” The Silurian stated standing abruptly and discarding the newspaper on her chair.
She walked briskly towards the door. “It would seem our services are required. With the latest theft taking place at the British Museum of Natural History we will go there first."
Once Vastra reached the door she pulled the elaborately embroidered cord hanging down the wall beside the door frame which would ring a bell in the kitchen to summon Strax. As she tugged twice firmly on the cord she turned to Jenny, with the biggest smile she had released in months, her white teeth displayed and her eyes shining with mirth and proclaimed, “The game, my dear, is afoot!”
Turning quickly she left the room and made her way into the hall. Stopping at the coat stand she began pulling on her cloak. Strax appeared at that moment.
“You rang Madame?” The Sontaran sounded irritated, but then it was hard to tell if he actually was because he often sounded irritated.
“Yes, Strax, bring the carriage round. I expect we have a case. I require you to take Jenny and I to the British Museum of Natural History.” The Silurian said in a pleasant tone. The Sontaran butler and part-time nurse huffed and turned stomping back down the corridor towards the kitchen, where he would get his own hat and cloak before going to the stables at the back of the house for their horse and carriage.
Vastra studied her friend’s retreating back with her head tilted to one side and a slightly amused expression on her face. Satisfied the curmudgeon would carry out her instruction, and fetch the carriage for them, she returned to preparing to go out. Taking her hat from the coat stand she placed it on her head adjusting it carefully over her head crests and made sure that her sonic hat pin was securely in place. Next she pulled her veil down to disguise her homo reptilian features from the fearful apes who would be disturbed by her magnificent Silurian appearance.
Once the lizard woman was satisfied she was appropriately dressed she walked to the front door, pausing before she opened it to turn to her wife, “Come along, Jenny. There is much work to do!”
Madame Vastra opened the front door of number 13 Paternoster Row and stepped out onto the front steps. Taking a deep breath and closing her eyes briefly she let the sounds and smells of London assault her senses. Which for a Silurian with their extremely sensitive and acute sense of smell was the equivalent to an ape splashing cold water on their face. Upon hearing the carriage pull up Vastra opened her eyes and walked down the steps to the awaiting carriage.

It had been a while since her wife had handled her with such gentleness. Not to say she hadn't touched her at all, but then it had been rather rugged and demanding. Not that she minded that either. Still, it was a lovely thing to have those incredible blue eyes look into hers like a spring sky. Jenny beamed as she looked back, knowing they'd gone the first step into easing Madam Vastra's spiky mood. Once the wife got moving, it was at a fast pace. Jenny was quick to change her apron (bloody in the corner) for a fresh white over skirt that she tied into place. A quick peek in the mirror and a few pins transformed her hair from washerwoman loose to street-tidy. All the while, she tracked what Madam Vastra was doing so she wouldn't be left behind. By the time the woman was ready to stride out the door, so was Jenny, spit spot.
"Come along Jenny, there is much work to do." the Lizard woman said with some excitement. "I always thou' it were play, Ma'am," She replied with excitement of her own.
They were out the door, and her wife was doing that thing she always did. Something Jenny had wondered about. Standing there so nobly, eyes closed. Breathing. What was going through her mind? Someday she might ask, for now, she'd simply enjoy it. When Strax came around, she'd opened her eyes again and was ready to go.
Jenny followed her wife into the carriage, wishing her wife did not have to wear the veil, but someday perhaps the world would be able to accept her. She reached in to get a hand up from Madam Vastra, and took her seat.
"Ah we goin' to steal somthin' rie in the middle of the day, Ma'am? Seems a bit bold even for you." She grinned over at her, glad to be back to work.
